Salisbury Train Station parking spaces will be removed

From June 10, all standard pay and display parking on the forecourt will be removed so improvement works can take place. Work is expected to last one year.

Blue badge parking will still be available on the station forecourt throughout these improvement works. Parking at the western end of the car park will remain open.

Dedicated alternative rail parking spaces will be available at Central Car Park on Mill Stream Approach. Walking and vehicular access routes will be signed.

A new station car park on Fisherton Street, next to the Royal Mail Salisbury Delivery Office, is expected to open later this year, according to South Western Railway (SWR).

SWR has suggested that Salisbury passengers may wish to park at Andover station instead, which is served by trains every 30 minutes during peak hours and every 60 minutes off-peak.

What is happening at Salisbury Station?

More than £5m is being invested into the station forecourt to make it more attractive and accessible.

Once complete, there will be a more convenient interchange from rail to bus transport for passengers, with the new interchange providing three bus stops.

The money is part of the £9.4m acquired by Wiltshire Council from the central government through the Future High Streets Fund, which also paid for the Fisherton Gateway project.

The station works will take place in three phases to allow continued access to the railway station as works are performed in other areas.
