Scam warning for Hucknall’s elderly and vulnerable

The warning comes from Coun John Wilmott, who represents Hucknall North for Ashfield Independents on Ashfield District Council, who says he himself has been targeted by the scammers of late.

Coun Wilmott, who is lead member for regulatory services on the council, said: “In the last week, I have received a number of fraudulent telephone calls, e-mails and texts that are being sent out at present.

“They have tried to say they are from Tesco, Amazon, Microsoft, HM Revenues and Customs, Royal Mail Delivery and Brunel Franklin and they all scams.

“I would urge everyone in Hucknall to be alert to this and to look out for others who might be at risk.

“If you have an elderly or disabled relative or friend who is vulnerable, please get the message to them about this problem and do not let the fraudsters win the day.”
