The Domestic Abuse Safety Unit (DASU) in North Wales has a 16 day campaign with local sports clubs and businesses to raise awareness of the need to end male violence against women.

With over 30 years’ experience providing professional coordinated and targeted interventions to women, men and children experiencing domestic abuse, DASU’s services offer choice to service users, maximising their safety, and the safety of their families across Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire and Wrexham.

As part of their campaign, DASU visited JCB, Dragon Hydraulics, Huws Gray, Kelloggs, Kwikfit, North Wales Police and Fire services, Pats Coaches, Royal Mail, Portable Food, Free Masons and Minera Tyres.

White Ribbon day is a real opportunity to get the message out that male violence against women must end.

Megan Phillips, senior support worker at DASU has coordinated numerous pledges and photos from businesses such as Wrexham Lager and sports clubs such like Wrexham Football Club and Wrexham Rugby Club to raise awareness of gender based violence.

Megan said: “All men can make a difference by thinking of their own behaviour and being prepared to call out sexist, violent and harassing behaviour when they see it, there is no excuse.”

Carolyn Hodrien, DASU’s head of service for Wrexham and Flintshire added: “Wearing a white ribbon is a pledge to never commit, excuse or remain silent about violence against women. DASU supports thousands of men, women and children across North Wales each year.”
