Sophie Countess of Wessex is a ‘rescuer in the royal firm’ – helped Meghan Markle

Then in 2007, Sophie gave birth to James, Viscount Severn, completing the Wessex family.

Sophie and Prince Edward are both working members of the Firm but have often faded into the background with the likes of Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle being placed front and centre.

According to a body language expert, Sophie Wessex is “something of a ‘rescuer’ in the royal firm”, particularly when it came to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.

Judi James spoke exclusively to Expresss.co.uk about Sophie’s role to play in the Royal Family.

She claimed: “Sophie does tend to appear to be something of a ‘rescuer’ in the royal firm, stepping in to help at moments of awkwardness.

“Examples include Harry and Meghan’s last public appearance with William and Kate in the UK.”

As the only royal wife of her generation to have remained married and not got divorced, Sophie has earned praise from royal commentators for her duty to royal life.

Many have noted Sophie’s close relationship with the Queen for that same reason.

DON’T MISS:

“Sophie is often seen using barrier gestures, with her bag clutched in front of her torso, or turning to speak to another person while Camilla does the same next to her.”

Judi also commented on Sophie’s relationship with her sister-in-law, Princess Anne.

She added: “We can see Sophie looking much more at ease with Princess Anne than she does with Camilla.

“While Sophie will appear to pick out the Queen, Kate and even Prince Charles for moments of shared humour, she rarely seems to do the same in public with Camilla.”
