Stamps at the Binghamton Post Office (Press & Sun-Bulletin)

I went to the post office tonight to get stamps to mail out bills and Christmas cards. When I walked into the Post office on Henry St in Binghamton, I had noticed that they had removed the vending machines to buy stamps in the Post office. What is the rhyme or reason to this?
