The Perfume Shop racks up record Christmas sales

THE WHAT? Despite train and Royal Mail strikes, severe weather and the cost of living crisis, The Perfume Shop saw sales soar in the run up to Christmas 2022, according to a report published by This is Money. The UK retailer sold a record 1.8 million fragrances between November 28 and December 24.

THE DETAILS The bestsellers were listed as LVMH’s Dior Sauvage, Chanel’s Coco Mademoiselle and Thierry Mugler’s Alien (L’Oréal). Sales of gift sets in the week before Christmas rose 26 percent on last year’s figures.

THE WHY? Fragrance is clearly enjoying a surge in popularity, perhaps as a result of pandemic-related restrictions coming to an end.
