Royal Mail has fired a ‘knackered’ postman who was caught on camera leaving a frail pensioner, 72.

Royal Mail has confirmed that a ‘knackered’ postman caught on camera leaving a frail pensioner lying in the snow after she slipped near her front door has been fired.

After spotting grandmother-of-two Patricia Stewart lying on the ground outside her home in Falkirk, Scotland, thoughtless Thomas McCafferty, 51, was filmed telling her, ‘I can’t help you pal.’

He also walked away after telling the 72-year-old, who has osteoporosis and was injured in the fall, that he was ‘too knackered’ to help.

After door-bell camera footage of the incident surfaced online, Mr McCafferty was suspended.

However, Royal Mail has confirmed that the postman has been fired.

‘Royal Mail expects the highest standards of behavior from our people while out on deliveries and collections at all times,’ a company spokesman said.

‘We remind our postmen and postwomen of the vital role they play in their communities on a regular basis.

We can confirm that the employee in question has left the company.

‘We have also completed our internal investigation, but due to confidentiality concerns, we are unable to comment further on any findings.’

‘We regret the inconvenience this incident has caused.’

According to the spokesperson, executives had personally apologized to the customer and informed them of the investigation’s progress.

Mr McCafferty was caught on video leaving Ms Stewart lying on the ground in Bainsford, Falkirk.

Ms. Stewart was killed outside her home on February 11th, during one of the coldest winters in 26 years, when she fell.

‘I was really upset, the postman had left me there lying on the ground in the snow and ice,’ she said at the time.

You’d never abandon someone in that state.

‘I would have been lying there for hours if it hadn’t been for the people who helped.

‘I just can’t get over how rude the postman was.’

I was in a lot of pain and he just left me.’

She had collapsed after going to pick up a parcel that Mr McCafferty, who was not her regular postman, had left at her front door.

She fell from the top step to the ground after feeling “a little dizzy” after receiving her Covid vaccine the day before.

Karolina Domska, a Hermes employee, eventually discovered her and alerted Patricia’s neighbors and niece Sheryl Harkins.

Patricia was left with a ‘big’ lump.
