Unionized postal workers represented by the Communication Workers’ Union (CWU) will embark on strike action Dec. 9 and 11 due to a pay dispute. The CWU is the largest union among Royal Mail employees and postal services will be severely impacted; no deliveries will be made on strike-affected days and collections from mail delivery offices will not be possible. This industrial action is part of a series of strikes; the following dates have also been announced:

Unless averted, the strikes will have a significant impact on postal collections and deliveries, at the busiest time of the year for postal services. Disruption is likely amongst businesses that rely on postal deliveries. Striking union members are also likely to demonstrate outside Royal Mail premises and government buildings, potentially causing localized disruption.

Advice

Avoid all demonstrations as a routine security precaution. Follow local travel and security instructions. Allow extra time for business-critical postal deliveries.
