Villagers are to lose their Post Office for a month while it undergoes a major refurbishment. The Post Office has confirmed that Great Easton Post Office and Stores, in High Street, Great Easton, near Market Harborough, will be temporarily closed from next Monday (August 1).
The work is expected to take about a month and it is due to reopen on Wednesday August 31. The closure means customers will be forced to go elsewhere.
Services at Great Easton Post Office include banking, Parcelforce Express services, paying bills and electricity card top ups, foreign currency exchange and the purchase of National Express coach tickets. The store is normally open from 8am to 4.30pm, Monday to Friday, and between 8am and midday on Saturdays.

Post Office bosses have highlighted two nearby branches customers can use during the closure. They are the Springbank Post Office in the nearby village of Medbourne, and Willowbrook Road Post Office in Corby.
A statement warning villagers of the closure said: “Great Easton Post Office will be temporarily closed from Monday August 1, at 4.30pm, for a refurbishment of the shop. The work is due to take approximately a month. The branch at 6 High Street, Great Easton, is due to reopen on Wednesday August 31 at 8am.”
Anne Murphy, who is in charge of the Post Office’s network provision, apologised to customers in Great Easton for the disruption and inconvenience. “We apologise for any inconvenience caused to our customers during the work,” she said.
“The safety of our customers is paramount, therefore, to allow for the building work to take place, it will be necessary for the service to close temporarily.” The Post Office said that the same services are available in Medbourne, which is few miles away but does not have a connecting bus service. There are, however, local bus services into Corby.
