What to do with urgent post in Arun and Chichester as Royal Mail announces 19 more strike days

Citizen’s Advice have offered crucial information on how to reduce disruption

Chichester and Arun’s Citizen’s Advice have shared crucial information on how to reduce disruption when looking to send urgent post as Royal Mail announce 19 more strike days.

Royal Mail have shared plans to reduce services on the 13th of October, the 20th of October, 25th of October, as well as the 2nd, 3rd, 8th, 9th, 10th, 14th, 15th, 16th, 23rd, 24th and 25th of November. Strike action on November the 30th spills over into the festive period too – with other dates including both the 1st and 2nd of December.

Arun and Chichester Citizen’s advice shared that the amount of people looking at their post delivery times has increased to a huge 78%. Reflecting on this figure, they shared crucial information on how local people can work around postal issues.

Their first chunk of advice included sending post early – particularly letters, which will not be delivered at all during strike days. Citizen’s Advice add that things posted “on the day before, during or straight after any strike are particularly likely to be delayed.”

The advice also adds that people who are stressed about a delayed bill can get in touch with the company who sent it, as well as “checking your account online”. They continue to advise those who can’t do this to look at “old bills or letters” for contact information, and to check the back of these letters as there is also “a list of ways to pay.”

However, the organisation stresses to “always make sure to get (and keep) your proof of posting”. Proof of postage can include a post office receipt they advise – adding “if something you send doesn’t arrive or is lost then it’ll be easier to sort out if you have proof of posting.”

For more information, Citizen’s Advice have a consumer helpline, which can be contacted on 0808 223 1133. They also have an online form which you can fill out for advice on “post problems”, too.
